As a child I was always fascinated to hear and read about the Kings and Queens. I always wondered how would one’s life be when they are born in the royal family. As a kid I loved to read the stories of Prince and Princess. I would think that life of a King and a Queen is very comfortable and they just sit on the throne with their crown and command the people what has to be done and the people have to obey it at any cost.

This was my understanding about monarchy until my imagination met the practical world of the monarchs. The first monarch about whom I started researching was Queen Elizabeth who has been so famous that I couldn’t stop myself from learning more about how and what it means to be a monarch. My quest to learn more about the British monarchy made me realize that the British monarch has many State and national duties. The monarch works for the public and their whole life is devoted to serve the people. The monarch undertakes various charitable services along with hosting many head of the States at the Buckingham Palace and all these duties are performed by the monarch.

Everything pertaining to the monarch is keenly noticed by so many people. From their handshake to their smile or any gesture of theirs can become headlines. Not just the monarch but also the family members of the monarch are keenly observed. Their personal life can have a very great impact on the position that they hold.
